Explanation of assessment criteria

Assessment criteria

Grants must contribute to a more inclusive Dutch society and enable organisations, groups of people, or individuals to participate fully and actively in Dutch society. The Foundation pursues its objective of supporting people who are unable, or find it difficult, to participate in certain aspects of society by focusing on the following priorities:

  • Reducing and combatting personal poverty;
  • Supporting solutions for people affected by illness or limited mobility;
  • Making culture accessible in the broadest sense of the word;
  • Bringing people together, preferably within their own neighbourhood or local community, thereby helping to counter social polarisation.

The Foundation seeks to support projects that create sustainable, long-term change and therefore deliver the greatest possible impact. This may be achieved directly through a project itself or through an operating organisation that shares the same long-term ambition. As a general principle, grants will be awarded for specific projects rather than as contributions to the capital or general reserves of other funds or organisations.

Exclusions

No grants or subsidies will be awarded to projects or organisations that:

  • Focus on activities or projects outside the Netherlands;
  • Pursue commercial objectives or have significant commercial interests;
  • Have already been completed;
  • Require funding from the Stichting Fonds Familie van Beek for more than three years;
  • Have an explicitly political character;
  • Fall within the responsibilities of government bodies, public authorities, religious organisations, or religious institutions;
  • Have a negative impact on the world in which we live, including environmental damage, pollution, human rights violations, or similar harmful effects;
  • Primarily serve a broader target group than the Foundation’s intended beneficiaries.

Approval of an application, and the timing of any such approval, is at the sole discretion of the Foundation’s Board.
